clubhouse chat: love all

it's saturday, which means the club has exactly one item on the agenda: sweat, together. we've been telling you to fall for a racquet sport since wimbledon week — turns out your heart has been keeping score this whole time, and it wants you on a court.

the glow file

the copenhagen city heart study followed about 8,600 people for 25 years and asked one very nosy question: which workouts come with extra years attached? tennis won. not by a little — by 9.7 years of added life expectancy, with badminton (+6.2) and soccer (+4.7) right behind. solo health-club sessions? about 1.5. and the researchers' theory is the juicy part: it's not the forehand, it's the friends. sports that make you talk, team up, and text "same time next week?" seem to do something a treadmill can't. the study is here — bring it to brunch.

the piggy bank

two seventeen-year-olds on martha's vineyard organized their island's first open-water charity swim and raised $334,043 for the local hospital's cancer program — six figures past their goal. seth meyers showed up in a wetsuit. read it and try not to text your best friend "we could do this."

heard at the clubhouse

alex eala, 21, just became the first player from the philippines — ever — to win a wta tour title. she dropped the first set of the dc open final to world no. 3 jessica pegula, slept on a rain delay, then came back the next morning and ran off eight straight games to close it 6-4, 6-0. the full story reads like a movie script — one more reason to pick up a racquet this weekend.

the sunshine page

locals in türkiye just tripled the protected seascape along 300 miles of their coastline — a win for every dolphin, seagrass meadow, and future beach day (via good news network). and in japan, a team just invented eco-fireworks with water-soluble shells, so the sky show stops leaving litter behind (details here).

the dress code

for the court, the class, or the coffee after: the friday studio shorts in petal red — sixty-five dollars, in stock now. high-rise, four-way stretch, and exactly the shade of red that says you came to play.

the passed note

book the court first, invite second. a calendar invite is the most underrated piece of workout equipment — and if your plus-one happens to be a date, even better. singles are calling it love-loreing — dating for the story instead of the script — and a doubles match is a very good story.

send this to a friend. that's how the club grows.

health is hot.
