clubhouse chat: clean slate

Aug 2
2 min read

happy sunday, club. tonight's reset has one gentle upgrade: the everything shower — the long, unhurried one with the hair mask and every step you usually save for special occasions. it turns out that little ritual is also a sleep ritual, and it pairs sweetly with the fix we already talked about — remember, the sunday scaries are mostly a schedule problem. tonight, the shower does the other half.

the glow file

okay, the sweet part of the science: researchers looked at seventeen studies on warm showers and baths, and found that taking one about one to two hours before bed helps people drift off around ten minutes sooner — and sleep a little deeper too (the study lives here). the reason is kind of lovely. the warm water brings your heat up to the surface, and as you cool back down afterward, your body takes it as a sign the day is over. so the long sunday shower isn't just self-care — it's a little bedtime story you tell your body. give it a couple hours of space before lights out, and it does the rest.

the piggy bank

a sweet one for you: a woman at an airport in utah noticed a veteran who was clearly in pain, still pushing wheelchairs to take care of his family. she shared a little video just to say thank you — and people quietly sent in more than 174,000 dollars for him. it all started with one person paying attention. that part gets us every time.

heard at the clubhouse

oprah shared that her school for girls in south africa is growing into something bigger — instead of one campus, a scholarship program that can reach girls all across the country. twenty years of showing up for them, and now the door opens even wider. we love her for that.

the sunshine page

two soft wins to end the week: twelve endangered giraffes in uganda were gently moved 106 kilometers to a safer home, away from the oil drilling (the whole story is here). and in south africa, six rhinos who were orphaned as babies nine years ago have each raised a calf of their own in the wild. everyone made it home.

the dress code

for the cozy half of the evening: the varsity sunday mock neck in victory grey — one hundred ten dollars, in stock, and honestly named for today. it's the soft layer you put on after the shower, hair in a towel, tea in hand, while the week quietly sorts itself out.

the passed note

tonight, take the long shower about two hours before bed — every step, no rushing. then set tomorrow's alarm within an hour of your weekday one. warm water, early night, clean slate. that's the whole reset.

send this to a friend. that's how the club grows.

health is hot.
