clubhouse chat: sweat equity

the club has a saying: you cannot buy the glow, you can only earn it. last saturday we gave your skincare a seating chart, and this week the sweat-proof beauty desk takes the question every member has typed into her phone at 9pm: is my workout the reason i am breaking out. the answer is juicier than yes or no.

the glow file

does sweat cause acne? not on its own. sweat is mostly water and salt, and the breakouts come from the company it keeps: oil, bacteria, friction, and time spent marinating in it. dermatologists even have a name for the friction kind, acne mechanica, the breakouts that bloom exactly where straps, headbands, and waistbands press on damp skin. the american academy of dermatology keeps the fix list short: makeup off before class with an oil free remover, freshly washed moisture wicking layers every single time, pat your face with a clean towel instead of rubbing it, wipe the shared equipment, then get out of the sweaty set and into a rinse within the hour. no shower in sight, a salicylic acid pad buys you time. so no, sweat is not the villain. sweat is the alibi.

the piggy bank

someone in cheyenne, wyoming thought it would be funny to prank order eighteen pizzas, about three hundred dollars worth, from l'osteria mondello. owner dave agovic made every single pie, waited, called the number, and got the joke. then he flipped the script: all eighteen pizzas went to the emergency room crew at cheyenne regional medical center, hand delivered by an eighteen year old former employee who happened to stop by at the right moment. the prank cost the joker nothing. the goodwill is still compounding.

heard at the clubhouse

angel reese just had the most efficient week in basketball. she went a perfect nine for nine from the field, the first player in wnba history to put up twenty points, ten rebounds, and five assists without missing a shot, then followed it two nights later with a career high thirty one points to push atlanta into the playoffs. meanwhile the dating desk reports a season defining term: chalance, cosmopolitan's word for deliberately choosing people who actually try, the full rejection of playing it cool. the club ruling: chalance has been the dress code here all along. caring loudly is the entire membership. nine for nine is just what it looks like in box score form.

the sunshine page

eight idaho teenagers started an instagram account called 208 boys to film bridge flips, found trash at the bottom of the boise river, and quietly turned nearly two hundred thousand followers into a running river cleanup. their house rule is club canon: do not let someone else deal with it, take care of it yourself. and the wildlife pages say the eastern u.s. is quietly rewilding, with kentucky's elk herd back to roughly ten thousand and bears, otters, and bison filling back in behind them. cleaner water, furrier neighbors.

the dress code

daily fit: the base sports bra in sky is saturday's uniform, forty dollars, medium support, clean neckline, built for pilates, strength, and the coffee after. the base crop tank in sky layers over it, also forty dollars, small batch and moving quick. night out: keep the sky bra on under an open white oxford, add silver hoops, and carry a vintage chanel timeless flap hunted secondhand. what's trending: blurred lines makeup, coveteur's fall report says smudged, lived in liner is the look, which the club translates as the one makeup trend that looks better after class than before it.

the passed note

the locker room lemonade: cold coconut water, the juice of half a lemon, a tiny pinch of salt, shaken over ice. ninety seconds, and it is electrolytes without the neon.

send this to a friend. that's how the club grows.

health is hot.
